Not your run of the mill vampire romance.

This is not your run of the mill vampire romance. This is a good thing. This is my first read with this author and I am very pleased to have gotten the chance. I will be checking out her other books for sure.

The characters are interesting and well detailed. It did take me a bit to warm up to Nik, but I was sold by the end. Brennan is your vampire club owner that happens to meet a ‘human’ named Nik by chance in his club. Against his better judgment he allows her to stay to play with the band for the evening in his exclusive vampire club. Is this human getting under his skin? Or is there more to Nik than it seems?

This is a well written vampire read with twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. What more could you want? Some pages made you smile, some pages made you wonder where the relationship is going, and other pages pulled you further in. The story and characters are well thought out and it’s only one of the reasons that definitely make this a recommended read. I am really looking forward to the next in the series. A well deserved 4.5 stars.

Vampire and the Mafia, I Think That Says It All

I liked this book, a lot, my only issue that I had was that I really did not like Nik and I struggled to understand what Brennan saw in her. That was my one and only reason for deducting a star. For me if you were in a relationship and were trying to get information from your boyfriend/girlfriend and they kept answering those questions with a next it would get old quickly, that's my view anyway!!

Now I've had my mini rant on to the story!! We have Brennan, an owner of vampire clubs, who one day meets the 'human' Nik and her brother Georgia, a vampire. However all is not what it seems where Nik is concerned. The evidence is there but Brennan ignores the signs until he has the truth thrust straight in his face, I will not say who enlightens him or any more on that as it will really spoil a huge portion of the story, did I see it coming, yes but the reveal would be ruined if I was to say any more!

Brennan's brother vampire, Michael has been attempting to kill him for years and it now looks like he has turned his attention onto Nik. With various attempts on their life will they survive or will they succeed in their attempts. The opening to this book is in essence part of the closing chapter. The rest of the story is the fill in. With the opening chapter having Brennan holding a dying Nik in his arms will they live to see more, well I'm not telling you that, you will have to read the story to find out more!! Book 2 is due out next year but I'm not going to tell you the title for that, spoilers people, spoilers!!!

A slightly different take on the vampire theme and well worth a read.

A must read book!

Brennan von Däniken has spent more than five-hundred years existing and he has had enough; nothing in this life appeals to him anymore. Then Nik walks into his club.

Brennan can't allow a 'Human' into his club, even if she is part of the band for the night. He was interested in this strange woman when he met her, but after an altercation in his club involving Nik's vampire brother, Georgia, he just doesn't want her out of his life.

When he finds out that Hunters are targeting Nik, who's the daughter of a Russian Marfia don, he does everything in his power to protect her. The Hunters turn out to be the least of their problems.

Nik has been keeping something important from Brennan, something which only a select few know. Once the truth is revealed, Brennan tries everything possible to keep Nik alive, but does he succeed? Or could it be that he'll be the cause of Nik's demise?

A gripping read, has you falling in love with Brennan and Nik as they experience the events that will change their lives forever!

Good beginner's vocabulary.

It is a good beginner's book or one to review German taken fifty years ago. The vocabulary is interesting, so I found it useful. Hey, at least it was not printed in gothic script like my German book those many years ago. The only disappointment was that I had already purchased the first two books included in this four book compendium. I'll wait on getting any of the next four, figuring they will combine them.

A useful and entertaining simple reader.

This is an excellent reader. Not extremely challenging but a good vocabulary builder and reading comprehension builder. This book is also much better than buying the small books separate (which are too short to be worth the money). The stories are interesting, but also more real life kinds of stories (which is to help the reader learn commonly used phrases). This is worth the money for people learning German.

Joey Jet came up the hard way in Totowa, New Jersey, 15 miles from Manhattan, the heart of New York City. He became a three-time small business owner/operator, soloed at Lincoln Park, New Jersey, N07, and became a private pilot by age 25.

Moving to Deerfield Beach, Florida, Joey Jet continued learning to fly at Pompano Beach Airpark's Pompano Air Center, earning his commercial airplane license and becoming a certified flight instructor under the tutelage of R. Dan Baker. Joey learned to fly Learjets when he was hired by Harvey N. Hop at Fort Lauderdale's Hop-A-Jet, Inc.

Calling all romance book readers that like billionaire and millionaires books and airplanes aficionado you will love book too.Well written book spaced apart paragraphs I love that read book faster that way.This pilot knows what he is doing. Love reading about flight and technicalities that goes with it.And all the legions he flown for. Love to see another book by author he's a good story teller.Congrats on book Chris Or Pamela. Amazon had to look hard to find this fine book.To Give the author more noteworthy put this book between Coffee Tea Or Me and Jet set readers won't have to search hard to find this fine book.

About the Author

Jenny Bird has successfully coached CEOs, senior executives and other leaders since 2000. She supervises coaches internationally to develop their competence and enhance their coaching presence. Great toolkit for business coaches

A really versatile toolkit whether you are practicing as a coach or using coaching techniques in your workplace. The diagrams and models mean that the approaches stuck in my memory really easily. There's lots of detailed insights for one-to-one or group situations and also for self-coaching. The chapter themes also make it easy to find the idea you want that relates to the particular challenge your facing. I'm sure I'll be reaching for this book regularly.

A Fun and Steamy Romp Through a Mythical World

This book is good, silly fun--you can't call it clean fun, because it's not, but that obviously isn't the point of erotica--that is also an unexpectedly nuanced read. I don't read much erotic fiction. The closest I've come has been to scan the blogs that mock a certain trilogy of badly-written erotic novels by highlighting its terrible prose. Here, good writing supports the sexy scenes, and there's some pretty strong character development as well.

The best way to describe this is as fantasy erotica. The various inhabitants of this fictional realm are centaurs, mer-people, tree-people, anthropomorphic woodland creatures, and other standbys from the fantasy novel. The difference is that they're all looking for what the book calls "fun," and, since this is the internet, I'll leave that at that. But the novel certainly has a sense of humor about itself, and enjoys taking the reader through scenes that are strange and funny as well as steamy. Case in point: the Inside Out Man.

I wouldn't have picked this book up if not for a friend's glowing recommendation, but I'm glad I did. This is Wednesday Black's first novel, and if what I have read of her writing is any indication of things to come, she's an incredibly talented, versatile writer, who I'm sure will continue to publish widely both within this genre and other areas of literature.

This book was a great quick read. I actually missed my subway stop I was so engaged. I do not typically read novellas or fantasy based stories, but the erotica changed the game for me. Looking forward to reading many more like this.

like so many ornaments in the dark

This Wednesday. She'll take the dark out of the night and turn the daytime Black.

Sculptors reveal the form that was there from the beginning, and then we can see it.

Similarly, but a little differently, something in the nature of the reality in which we swim is revealed as a glove is turned inside out. The glove isn't thus revealed -- it was there to be seen or worn from the beginning, but on which hand?

That transforming act reveals something real and un seeable, something of the nature of our reality we can neither see, name, nor know beyond our experiencing it, as the lady rolls her glove off, fingers-last, ready for the other hand.

That part of our reality thus revealed, neither named nor knowable, is at the heart, in the heart, of life and is the similarly unnamed subject of How To Train Your Virgin, by Wednesday Black.

Call it Magic.

The glove-like duality of the human experience is the armature on which disparate sparkling vignettes are hung, like so many ornaments in the dark, and the utterly artificial separation of them into two realms, is the villain in this remarkable examination of the unity of life in its total immersion in the river of time.

What is revealed, and unstated, is that both realms are flowing together, one older, one younger, one grizzled, one untried, one ahead, one behind, in time, and that when one artificially separates them in the younger years, the price is death in its most horrible form -- that is to die without having truly lived.

What to do? Recognize the magic as the glove goes from left to right, and embrace the magic in the night.

Unique!

"The methodical analysis of musical masterpieces is an exercise that concerns both players and composers". This is what the author says in the preface to this book...So, being neither a piano player nor a composer, I should not have ordered this book! But I have, and I have waited a long time to receive it, and I don't regret it...because even if I don't have a full grasp of the content of this unique book, I will certainly learn a lot from it...And the first thing I learned is about "key relations": Tovey asks us to abandon the terms "relative major" and "relative minor", because the "keys they represent are no more closely related than the other direct relations". Many misconceptions will have to yield when one reads this great master. For example, the last works of Beethoven are the ones in which the form is popularly supposed to be broken down. Tovey teaches us that it is in those latest works that Beethoven has attained his strictest form! So, if you love the Beethoven sonatas, and if you want to understand them fully, this bar-to-bar analysis is for you, provided you have an average knowledge about tonality and harmony...But if you don't, well, this book is not recommended for you.

About the Author
Raquel Ramos Barrios has a degree in Geography and History from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and majored in History. She also won a Premio Nacional de Defensa (A National Defence Award) in 2007. She has been Honorary Assistant in the Department of Contemporary History at the Faculty of Geography and History for several courses. She has also been teaching Contemporary History in the course of access to the University for people older than 25 and History, Art and Philosophy in several high schools. She is the author of monographs such as El proceso de transición democrática de las Fuerzas Armadas españolas . 1975-1989 (Ministerio de Defensa, Secretaría General Técnica, 2008) and has published articles in many magazines such as Historia del Tiempo Presenta or Espacio, Tiempo y Forma
